Galphimia gracillis, Galphimia gracilis, Galphimia glauca
Family: Malpighiaceae
Thriallis, Rain of Gold, Spray of Gold
This bushy landscape favorite has small, glossy green leaves and almost continuous displays of small with bright yellow flowers. Since it tolerates a variety of conditions, including drought and wind, it is a useful garden bedding plant in tropical gardens and also does well as a pot plant in greenhouses. Galphimia prefers well-drained soil and needs full sun to flower profusely but will grow in partial shade. It should be pruned back occasionally after flowering to make a better shape. Propagation is by means of cuttings or seeds, which are produced in abundance.
