Used for timber, firewood, medicinal purposes, charcoal, living fences, plantation shade and green manure, it has good potential as fodder for livestock.
It does well in moist or dry soils even with heavy concentration of limestone. It is drought resistant. Often used for shading cacao trees, hence the common name Madre de Cacao.
