This palm makes a nice specimen plant because its trunk eventually grows in the shape of a spindle–hence the name. Tropical with high salt tolerance, slow growing and often used as an understory palm although it is rated at 20 feet when mature. Sunny, moist, but well drained position. Frost and salt tolerant.
